"First who, then what."

If you were taking a 3,000 mile cross country road trip on a bus from Maine to California and you got to pick who was on the bus would you pick the other passengers or would you leave it to chance?

If you wanted to enjoy the ride even if there were wrong turns and delays along the way would you want to have picked the other passengers or still leave it all to chance?

For those of you who like the excitement of possibly spending multiple days on a bus with people who are annoying, grumpy, gossipy, selfish, pushy, self-destructive, <insert negative quality here>, then this analogy probably doesn’t make sense (maybe re-watch the clip above?🤷‍♂️). But, for the rest of us, it probably does.

For those of us who would prefer to pick the passengers, if you get the right people on the bus and they’re sitting in the right spots (driver seat, back seat, emergency exit seat, etc.), then no matter how the trip goes (wrong turns, flat tires, etc.) you’re more likely to enjoy the ride, have good discussions, and arrive at your destination (likely on time and in one piece).

Just like the bus, it’s important to get the right people on your team. You NEED to hire well to enhance your company and your team. This attracts and retains high-performing, engaged teams that deliver on their commitments.

Some housekeeping

If you're doing things right some things is this course will be difficult and uncomfortable. That's by design. But, that doesn't mean it can't be fun. Keep your eyes open for opportunities to earn rewards and discover hidden things. They might come from a normal quiz or getting 100% on a hard quiz. They might be for accomplishing certain things quickly or they might be for completing a lesson. So many possibilities.

Regardless of all the extras, by the end of this course you should feel more comfortable leading a solo interview and more confident in documenting your ratings of a job interview candidate.

You got this!đź’Ş
