You can add a short lesson description here. This is needed for the course outline preview. For Momentum use at least 200 characters. For Premier you can select the truncate number in the template.

“Takeoff and landing are considered the most dangerous parts of flight,

and so it goes with stories.”

- How To Tell A Story, from The Moth

This idea of starting with location and action (In Medias Res) is all about the takeoff of your story. 🛫

This is your chance to immediately engage you audience😳 or... lose them🥱.

You don't have to do it this way, it's just a suggestion.

Video storytelling has an advantage because the location and action are immediately visible, but it's passive participation. Written and oral storytelling have the advantage of engaging the imagination which is active participation. It's like the storyteller and the audience are in the story together.

I can't hold back anymore. I love how the film, Inception, explains how our mind populates and fills in the gaps. Check it out👇.

Try creating some "location & action" intros yourself...

I'm flying down the freeway in a green 1980s station wagon...

It's sunset and I'm walking along the beach looking for my right flip-flop...

I’m sitting on a ship with a dead lobster sprawled across my plate...

I’m pacing my room tapping my head and fighting the urge to scrap everything I’ve worked on for the past two weeks
